This guide provides answers to many commonly-asked questions regarding the Chariot Web Mail interface, SqWebMail.

How Do I: Log in to SqWebMail

You can log in to SqWebMail via your local Chariot Branch Website. A Web Mail login form is provided in the top-right corner of each branch website homepage. Enter your username and password, and click the Login button to log in.

Notes:

  • Your username and password are case sensitive. Your username must always be entered in lowercase. Your password must be entered in the correct case you chose when your account password was set.

  • Your username is NOT your full e-mail address. If your email address is john@chariot.net.au your username is john. Be sure to enter your username, and not your full e-mail address, in the username field.

  • If you continue to experience difficulties logging in to Web Mail, please contact Chariot Technical Support for assistance.

How Do I: Log out of SqWebMail

When you have finished using SqWebMail, you should log out. You can log out at any time by selecting Log Out from the top-right corner of the SqWebMail window. This will complete your SqWebMail session.

How Do I: Create a new Message Folder

  1. Open the Folders menu (select Folders from the top-left corner of the SqWebMail window).

  2. Type a name for the folder to be created in the Create new folder textbox.

  3. Click the Create button to create the new Message Folder.

How Do I: Rename a Message Folder

  1. Open the Folders menu (select Folders from the top-left corner of the SqWebMail window).

  2. Place a dot next to the folder you wish to rename.

  3. Type the new name for the folder in the Rename to textbox (to the immediate right of the (...) selector).

  4. Click the Rename folder button to rename the folder.

How Do I: Delete a Message Folder

  1. Open the Folders menu (select Folders from the top-left corner of the SqWebMail window).

  2. Place a dot next to the folder you wish to delete.

  3. If you wish to delete all messages within the folder to be deleted, place a tick in the Delete folder contents tickbox.

  4. Click the Delete folder button to delete the folder.

How Do I: Attach a file to a message composition

  1. Open the message composition window (select Create Message from the top of the SqWebMail window), and compose your message.

  2. Click the n Attachments button (where n is the number of files you have currently attached).

  3. Click the Browse button to browse your computer for the file to attach.

  4. Click the Upload button to upload the selected file to the SqWebMail system. When uploaded, the attachment will be displayed in the Attachment area near the top of the SqWebMail window.

  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each additional file you wish to attach to your message (if any).

  6. Click the Preview button to return to the message composition window.

How Do I: Save a composition as a Draft

  1. Open the message composition window (select Create Message from the top of the SqWebMail window), and compose your message.

  2. Click the Save Draft button.

  3. Your composition will now be saved in the drafts folder, and you will be returned to the Folders menu. You can access your composition at a later time from the Drafts folder.

How Do I: Save a copy of messages I send

  1. Open the message composition window (select Create Message from the top of the SqWebMail window), and compose your message.

  2. Place a tick in the Preserve a copy of the message in the sent folder tickbox.

How Do I: Change the From address of messages I send

Due to the potential for exploitation by spammers, Web Mail does not allow you to customise information within the From field of messages you send (including your name or e-mail address). Web Mail will insert your correct e-mail address in the From field of all sent mail.

How Do I: Delete a single message

  1. Open the message you wish to delete.

  2. Click the Delete button (representing a trash can, third icon from the left in the message toolbar).

  3. The message is now moved to the Trash folder, and the next message in the current folder is displyed.

  4. Select the Folders option at the top-left corner of the SqWebMail window.

  5. Open the Trash folder.

  6. Place a tick next to the message you wish to delete from the Trash.

  7. When you have selected the message to be deleted, click the Purge button at the bottom of the SqWebMail page. The selected message is now purged from the system.

How Do I: Delete multiple messages

  1. View the contents of the message folder in which you would like to delete messages (for example, to delete your new mail, open the INBOX folder).

  2. Place a tick next to each message you wish to delete.

  3. When you have selected all messages to be deleted, click the Delete button at the bottom of the SqWebMail page.

  4. The selected messages are now moved to the Trash folder. They will be displayed greyed-out in the current window (representing their just-deleted state).

  5. Select the Folders option at the top-left corner of the SqWebMail window.

  6. Open the Trash folder.

  7. Place a tick next to each message you wish to delete from the Trash.

  8. When you have selected all messages to be deleted, click the Purge button at the bottom of the SqWebMail page. All selected messages are now purged from the system.

How Do I: Move a message to another Message Folder

  1. Open the message you wish to move.

  2. Select the folder to move the message into, from the Move to folder selection box.

  3. Press the Go button to move the message to the selected folder.

How Do I: Change the number of messages displayed per page

  1. Open the Preferences window (select Preferences from the top of the SqWebMail window).

  2. Select the number of messages to display per page (10,20,50,100 or 250), from the Messages per page selection box.

  3. Click the Update preferences button to save the change.

How Do I: Change how messages are ordered within Message Folders

  1. Open the Preferences window (select Preferences from the top of the SqWebMail window).

  2. Select the field on which to order messages, from the Sort messages by selection box.

  3. If sorting by Date, click the Show oldest messages first tickbox to display the oldest messages at the top of the mail list, and the newest messages at the bottom.

  4. Click the Update preferences button to save the change.

How Do I: Add a Signature to messages I send

  1. Open the Preferences window (select Preferences from the top of the SqWebMail window).

  2. Type a mail signature (to be appended to all messages you send) in the Your signature textbox.

  3. Click the Update preferences button to save the change.

How Do I: Add a recipient to my Address Book

Method 1:

  1. Open the Address Book window (select Address Book from the top of the SqWebMail window).

  2. Type a nickname for the new contact in the New nickname textbox.

  3. Click the Create button.

  4. Type a name for the new contact in the Name textbox.

  5. Type an e-mail address for the new contact in the Address textbox.

  6. Click the Add button to save the new contact details to the address book.

Method 2:

  1. Open a message received from the contact to be added to the address book.

  2. Click the contact name or e-mail address, within the From field of the message display window.

  3. Type a name for the new contact in the Name textbox.

  4. Type an e-mail address for the new contact in the Address textbox.

  5. Type a nickname for the new contact in the New nickname textbox, OR select an existing nickname to replace from your address book.

  6. Click the Go button to save the new contact details to the address book.

How Do I: Edit a recipient in my Address Book

  1. Open the Address Book window (select Address Book from the top of the SqWebMail window).

  2. Select the nickname of the contact you wish to edit from the Choose nickname selection box.

  3. Click the Edit button.

  4. Click the Edit button to the immediate right of the contact name/address entry you wish to edit.

  5. Type a name for the contact in the Name textbox.

  6. Type an e-mail address for the contact in the Address textbox.

  7. Click the Edit button to the immediate right of the Address textbox, to save the contact details to the address book.

How Do I: Delete a recipient from my Address Book

  1. Open the Address Book window (select Address Book from the top of the SqWebMail window).

  2. Select the nickname of the contact you wish to delete from the Choose nickname selection box.

  3. Click the Delete button to delete the contact from the address book.
