The Caper White On Monday 4th December the committee members of the BCSA with members and friends met at the Waite aboretum to celebrate the annual migration of the Caper White [Anaphaeis jave teutonia]. A specific foodplant of this butterfly is the Capparis Mitchelli tree of which one species exists in the aboretum and it was alongside this tree that the group set down its nibbles and refreshments. The season being as it was, ie rather dry and warmer, the butterflies and come and almost gone, but spirits were undaunted, and we were regaled with the sounds of recorders and drum in the medieval and Celtic style.A very pleasant way to meet good friends and spend an early evening. |
